Here is a guide to encoding X264 40mb animes.

The guide contains:

- How to encode video
- How to encode audio
- How to make samples of a video

This is the verry first guide ive ever made, and its video to boot So there are a few errors in speech ^^

nice guide, and here is some of my opinion...
1.there is no need for 3 pass, it doesnt give that much of improvement in quality.
2.Resize: for common user should be soft or neutral, sharp sometime break the outline in anime.
3.Shouldnt choose "no DCT decimate": in some cases it may improve quality a little bit, but in most cases the file size will be increase unneeded without quality improvement.

Should tell ppl how to add 1 to their trellis , anw, this is nice job for 40mb to 100mb, more than 100 should consider some small stuff.

I'll give it a try with my next experiments :-). These are the settings ive found uptill now with trial and error . But tnx for the tips ^^

Made this a more detailed guide since most guides about x264 arent really explained fully. They just preselect stuff for you :x. Was really hard to find some good settings :-(

But anyways did some tests with a friend with encoding 120mb show smallville. And my settings seemed to be a bit better then the MeGui HQ-Slow setting .

But with the 3-pass. Tbh with 40mb any increase in quality is welcome

It may add 20 more minites to encoding but still.

Well, each profile for each case is needed and welcome ^^. but's it hard to make a guide for all ^^, as for each source have different slight change in the same profile. Most of the guide today just help explaining various options inside the encoder, and not many user can unerstand that .

For audio, you sould tell people who are using Winamp that they can use winamp converter instead of Megui ^^, I do it all the time (Megui hater).

Yeah, i used megui since i had it installed at the time, and for audio its easy. Though setting up the video is alot of work

Thats why I like staxrip. Most of the stuff is done automaticly for you, making encoding faster and easier.


And for ppl who don't really understand the whole thing i decided to just give them my profile for staxrip. It solves alot of problems with setting it up manually and avoid stupid questions tbh
