Yh, obviously, China has had Nukes since 1950s-1960s. If there is ever a war, nukes will probably be used at some point. Civilians will die. Everyone will die. WW4 will me stick and stones.

I think it was a great thing of the past. Unfortunately it died in greece. Then the US made this little theater when they got in power that looks like a democracy but is not. In the days of Athens any citizen (not slave or woman) had the chance to rule the city-state. there were about 40,000 people whom could have been elected at any time. The selecting was random. Therefore making everyone get the attitude of "I could be elected in any moment, so I should be more wary of what's going on in the country. Wouldn't want to get elected and make a fool of myself for my lack of knowledge." Thus there would be more knowledgeable people walking around and discussing current events. I don't see that happening in any so called "democratic" country nowadays. Apparently to rule you HAVE to be wealthy and have the good connections. Then there's the whole process of climbing through the ranks. This isn't a democracy. Might as well be a "Temporal Parlimentary Monarchy." Where the king is changed every 4 years. Going back to the original question. Since democracy used to make every citizen interested in current events. Most people would discuss them thoroughly. Therefore getting more into philosophical discussions of what is right or wrong and constantly changing opinions, ways and actions. Making citizens make better decisions on an everyday basis. I wish we'd have something like that nowadays.

USA isn't a real democracy, but don't get confused, in Europe you don't need to be rich to get elected, or do you need to have "good connections", of course afterwards having them is a advantage, but you don't need to. As proof, the president of France is a son of a immigrant worker :P Other people think of France as a place where everyone is lazy and arrogant and they go on strikes a lot. Well they aren't that lazy and only parisians are arrogant. But they go on strike a lot because it's a democracy and they want to be heard.

Also the greek democracy was very flawed. E.g : Too many people ruling, it's annoying, people being forced to do things :|

Well yea... you do have to be rich to be in democracy... I wonder why people don't go back to the old idea of plebians and other group i can't remember right now... Well all I remember is that there were two evened groups of rich and poor. It was carried out by the Romans I believe, and it lasted a while. As long it doesn't go back to Middle Ages, everything will be fine. (By Middle Ages I am refering to the church having most of the power)

Because it's stupid when you have stupid leaders, stupid leaders destroyed rome ! [There were some good leaders in between the stupid leaders, but they got assassinated >.>] pff you don't need to be rich in Europe to be a leader.

At this point in time, Democracy is the best WORKABLE system of government we have. It is not as efficient as some, but people feel that everyone is equal even when they're not.

"A Democracy, where any two idiots outvote a genius"

Unless people were changed FUNDAMENTALLY or a race of superhuman leaders was made, this is what we're stuck with.

well, democracy isn't too good if you base it in our country...
most of the people doesn't know what's going on, so when there's like a price hike ...they go complain in the streets blabering about things they're ignorant of...
and these leaders who...er...lead.... hypnotize his group that our president sucks...lol

...democracy hasnt really helped us out...well, honestly our economy was way better when marcos put up dictatorship >_>... we were above japan that time...

...sigh... unfortunately, got tempted on all the riches so he stole it, fled to hawaii... and died... i just pity him for not being buried until now coz the filipinos still have a grudge on him

so, if you'd ask me, democracy is good for people who knows what really is going on, and if not, then it's better to give the power to someone who knows it...

Its sad how money has gotten a gripe over society :/. Many people use it to grab others attention in commercials filled with biast opinions or one-faced ideals. Most of the time the president won't do half the things they say, so you vote guessing which ones he (or maybe even she nowadays ) WILL do, I myself haven't decided who to vote for, but I'm underaged so I couldn't care less
