Prune the forums ?

Ok, well it's starting to become a problem, people are reviving REALLY dead topics.

I propose that the forum is pruned so that all topics that haven't been replied to for 1 month are deleted.

I don't know, I sorta got nothing against getting rid of the dead topics. I haven't really posted in dead topics that much, I think a couple times at most(after some people started to post in it, didn't look at the date of the first post.. Was the 'what anime are you waiting for?' poll made by you back in like July of last year ) I usually don't like to post in dead topics, since usually gets nowhere bringing a dead topic back to "life" since it ended for a reason(usually).. Mainly don't since usually a new one that covers same thing, just better with it. But also there might be a reason some are, since there's not all that many new topics around and people don't really like to start ones, since the ones that are around already cover a lot, making it hard to find something to make a new topic about. Sure there's a nice amount of threads in the forums, just a lot of them after you reply a couple of times or so you really have nothing else to say that would be really worth it to say(usually)...

But then it's up to you, I got nothing against dropping the dead topics, since they are usually dead and all for a reason. People lose posts, they lose some post count, not like it'll be like all of them, probably be like 3-10(at most) from people, but then all based on how many topics actually disappear and how many times they felt like posting in the dead topics that do disappear..

hmm.. well you have a good point there but i dont really care if ppl want to post somwhere let them post lol. but you have a good point.

Although im new here im quite sure ppl wont want there post count reduced so badly.
If you delete topics older than a month then thats EVERYTHING older than a month.
Meaning somone with 800 post would have around 100-200 post after the "purning"
Alot of ppl might not care and actualy think of this as a good thing.
But would you have to "purn" the forums every few months?
Dose not sound like a ultimate sulution.

Addtionaly I hope im not one of the ppl reaving dead topics, i only click on the new post botton and replay from there.
Hopfuly im not revaing anything old by mistake.

as for this topic.. It's fine I think.. but some topics should be pruned. Examples of these would be..

Really Old " Member Introductions"

Old promotions..

etc.. old topics that have no room for discussion n stuff. If it seems like the conversation is over, people should realize that they shouldn't post in it > But I guess most people don't realize this


Oh and btw, it seems like some people ( no names in particular ) make new topics w/o using the search function. I just don't like double topics

dubble topics can be merged and old topics can be closed

Most old topics are left alone, some still have room for discussion but no1 really wants to reply... Those are fine but meh >>

Screw the search function! For a forum that doesn`t have a lot of active members, you should be happy people talk about the same crap over and over again.

Let me settle this debate. The amount of old and unused topics is so bad that monthly maintenance freezes only a little ways in. The forums will be pruned for 6 months, end of discussion.

Leave old topics maybe lock them after "such" amount of time since usually when picking some forum / game server whatever I check how many posts in which section and then join / become active.
