shikamarus shadow Possession jutsu doesn't make any sense.
at the chunin exam he used it to bang that girls head in to the wall but it didn't cause any pain to him but when he stops gara from attacking lee while he is a sleep at the hospital it causes pain to him?
i am confused can someone please tell me!!!!

i think the pain was there cause gaara was resisting him....

I wouldn't say it's pain. More like restraint.

Ya everyone is bascially right, the "pain" is more of feeling the effects of someone trying to break out or resisting the full effect. It's shown more during the filler episodes when they are dealing with the 2 during the prison break out and other times.

The girl during the chunin exam was just really weak and couldn't provide any kind of resistance to his jutsu.

One reason you could think it is pain, could be said here: (could be a spoiler if someone around hasn't watched that episode, so in a tag..)

maybe he just shares wounds not really pain? like blunt attack= no real wound.....

He probably only feels the pain although he's not bodily harmed.

i think the one performing the jutsu has to be the one to inflect the damage not a third guy,because it makes since the shadow strangling jutsu.

Also he does seem to share the pain of the person he has in the jutsu if someone attacks the person. Reason why he told Naruto not to attack Gaara when he had in under the jutsu.
