i wouldn't say it's unpredictable raidodol it like yuuji & chriiiis said the whole plot was aiming for manaka to be with tojo i mean from the 1st chapter he was looking for the girl with the ichigo panties heck even the manga's title is ichigo 100% (if it's not reffering to the ichigo panties then i dont know what eles it means) the author wanted for her manga to stand out with a diffirent ending than other shounen mangas so she decided for the ending to be with nishino(or whatever her name was) although she had the least apperences with manka comperd to tojo.

True. But changing an ending just to change an ending, without a firm foundation, leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Again, at least there was some foundation to the ending...but still.

In the end though, I know I'll appreciate the next 'happy' ending I come across in a romantic series. Even if the ending seems obvious at first.

And now for a completely different point of view:
At least the mangaka didn't go completely 180, and give us a 'School Days' ending!

Ah I agree with what you said. I still wasn't happy with the ending though. There needed to be more reasons behind Manaka's actions I thought or more feeling or understanding. Then again, he's young. Working on impulse. Doesn't need a reason to do anything except if he feels like it. That's what being a young is like sometimes.

About the ending.. It's his life and it's his decision... It's true that he's just 'accidentally' confessed to Tsukasa 'coz he thinks that the girl with stawberry panties is Tsukasa but after the story progress, he's starting to care about her and such despite his complex feeling with Tojo and Satsuki....
One thing is it's not the 'everyday' ending when the main heroine will be the main hero's girlfriend....

Yeah. Makoto deserved his death. I just wished it could be more gruesome. Junpei, however, is a nice guy. That's why Nishino liked him in the first place.

I just wish to also include that the original 'romantic comedies' I used to read/watch, there wasn't even that much.
Many stories _never_ ended. Or ended with a very open, or non-ending where you never know what the choice would be.
Until Maison Ikkoku, that is what I was used to.
So having the main heroine become the hero's girlfriend still has a 'new' feel for me. Then again, I've been reading manga like this for over 20 years now, and it has become so much better over time.

Just at first Makoto seemed to be just as innocent as Junpei (of course it's based on a game where you can turn Makoto good or evil, so that makes sense). But when he started screwing up (or shall I say, screwing around) I actually stopped watching the series. Good thing to, because of what eventually happens (_not_ the type of anime I'm interested in right now. Though the genre has it's place). But Makoto's mistakes didn't happen until..what...4-6 episodes into the series? In the meantime he was at first acting just as 'confused' as Junpei - waffling here and there.
But Junpei, especially with Satsuki, did not cross that important rubicon ([Only registered and activated users can see links. ]) and that made a different story.

Ergo what I'm trying to say is that this manga-ka did develop the character over time. And even though it's a different ending then expected, at least it didn't spin out of control like School Days. Perhaps we should feel thankful for that! (and poor frustrated Satsuki...even though if Junpei gave in, it would most l likely have been a lot worse)

i think i said this be4 but school days anime isnt the orignal source of the story school days is a fully animated fully voiced ero game and u have more than 20 ending's and u can even take intrest in girls who dont apper in the anime if u wantm a good ending try the harim ending where he get's both kotonoha and sekai and they get pregrent lol.

Nah, we never spelled that out for everyone.

I knew it, you knew it, but not sure if everyone else did.

And I'm not sure if 'good' should be tacked on with getting both characters pregnant.
I don't think he'll live a good life after that.

Hmmm, back to Ichigo 100% - did the mangaka do anything even close to this work afterwards?

Let alone, other then say Maison Ikkoku and I's, was there anything even close to it out there?

Maybe Rosario+Vampire, but it hasn't ended yet (artwork better then Ai Yori Aoshi, but not close to Ichigo 100%, furthermore character development is at a lower level, and the combat can almost get in the way at times)
