i would suggest aoi yori aoshi. it's a romance but it has a lot of fan service and has a great story. i cried at the end. it's not easy to make me cry btw

Try vagabond. Kinda fictionalised story about one of Japan's greatest swordsman Miyamoto Mushashi. Great story. At least for me.

Ah I couldn't read Gantz. It has an interesting plot I admit but the overall ecchi nature of the story got to me. I was in the mode for something serious when I was trying to read it at the time and when I got up to the part where



I felt like it was too revolve around the main character's hormones. Also, he is a really mean person. I wouldn't say he's a good person at all. Then again I haven't read it till the end and everyone says it's good so I might be wrong.

Even though there is comedy in it I would say Chobits is a great series to pick. It mixes comedy into the plot but I wouldn't call it laugh out loud or anything. I really found the ending touching. i definately didn't want it to end. Also, you really feel for the characters and the plot actually hits some amazing points. Steer clear from the anime though if you're looking for a meaningful story though.
