With regard about Japanese anime & manga having at least one fool and one perv in a story, think about this....
In real life, among the people you know, you will know somebody who is more of a fool than you, someone who is smarter, and someperson who is more pervy than you. Be it in humour, mind or action, that is true that it is. Anime & manga stories; more importantly the characters, try to reflect the differences in humans, society and behaviour, (if it wasen't it would be very boring to watch, or be so 'samey' like nearly all old american & disney cartoons). I agree in general that the Japanese men are a little more 'overt' or open about their fetishes and sexuality (so long as they are hetrosexual), but that is more a reflection of Western/European/Victorian social history. Be honest, no matter what religion, social class, country you/we are from, we all have (or will have; for those who are in there early teens) some pervy thoughts, fantasies etc. Its just the Japanese choose to acknowledge it, and yes they know it makes them seem pervy to other cultures, but they are human, and honest about it. Me I'm an English Brit, I know I have a few things I'd like to try, but I won't cos well, I don't know any of the opposite sex with similar things. ...British stiff upper lip, naaaah, no way, nada, doesn't exist anymore (unless your over 50 and from a upper middle class family or better). |

Stiff upper lip, mmm, it sort of means.....
Controlling your own emotions, mind, or doing your duty/what is expected of you/being a leader of others without showing fear or weakness. Also it can mean being a Gentleman. Its an old expression, now normally only heard in old war films, or used as part of a humour in some situations. What I meant by it was, nowadays we Brits aren't so old fashioned/victorian in showing other people our emotions & desires. Sorry to get off topic |

We are all the way off of topic here! In Brazil and US we call it japanese food for sure, as french food, german food.. itīs a way to group those dishes. In Brazil, itīs hard to say what is truly Brazilian or Japanese, or another country food becouse as a country that was made from a lot of differents cultures, starting from germans and italians in the south, passing by japanese, arabians in the middle and africans and holland people in the north, there is no way that we can call some thing a excluse food from somewhere.
