You guys are so lucky to be able to learn Japanese or Chinese at your highschools. I know 4 languages already which I read, write and speak fluently, and I'm learning 3 more at the moment - I have a knack for languages, but I can't find someone to teach me Japanese at all
Unless of course there's the 5-week courses which cost an arm and a leg, and whose lists are filled up before you can even breathe... |

I've actualy dabbled in learning bits & pieces of several different languages, & I was thinking of trying to learn Japanese, since I'm in martial arts it would benifit me as well. But its just soo blasted hard to learn a new langauge at my age, best to start while your young, or have a good teacher. Anyways tho, I just have to check some of those links you all posted & see if I can pick up on it.

I dunno about the high school language education. I did a year of self-study before I went to my college courses, and there were quite a few high school entrants that had claimed 3-4 years of study during that time - and they didn't know katakana yet. Seems it was more about the culture than actually learning the language itself.
As for learning three languages at once, just wow. I'm having a hard enough time with just Japanese - Korean and Mandarin are going to be fun once I'm done with this, haha. As for an actual site that assisted with learning Japanese, I haven't really found any sites that give a good structured learning set. They are more loosely gathered chunks of information that don't lend well to my preference of learning. There were a few that I went to for various things, though, and they were the aforementioned japanesepod101.com, lrnj.com (rpg that helps you read kana and meanings of kanji for pc, mac, or linux), and thejapanesepage.com for online kanji definitions and some good link resources. |

japanese is difficult to most of people except chinese, the same point of chinese language and japanese language are uncountable
if you want to learn japanese ,you'd better to find a japanese text book and remind all of contents such as word and prounce and so on... try to see anime without english words, after 1 years's hard work, you can be a japanese language master |
