Suggestion for higher forum use (via individual anime specific discussions)

In essence, I suggest that an 'Anime Series Specific Discussion' section be created.

Meaning that a series like Bleach or Code Geass receive its own separate heading in which people may start threads regarding the series.

The best example of which, IMHO, is here:

As the example shows the vast majority of the specific discussion sections still have recent activity (stemming from the last month or sooner).

More activity is what, I believe, this forum is looking for.

Caveat - yes, some of that activity is via barely useful posts/threads - but that is a condition that will never go away with any forum.
And there is still a positive correlation between the more posts, the more likely good, in-depth posts and threads will be created and commented on. It might not be a particularly strong correlation, but is still exists.

After searching the Ideas/Problem threads, I did come across the:

thread.
There seemed to be strong ambivalence towards the concept, although one factor did shine through that only 4 categories would only add ambiguity and Misc would simply become the most popular.

The solution here would simply be to avoid that ambiguity by being specific (as in specific anime sections)

The question of which anime sections to create wouldn't be as hard as one would originally think, as the:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
shows that it's possible.

Simply put, the common sense (or more to the point, the common interests) of the Moderators would make it easy to figure out which anime's should get their own sections at first (can anyone say, Code Geass, Bleach, Naruto, to say a few?).

And others can be added by those members willing to request them, using the 'Ideas' forum, just like I am doing now.

Otherwise I fill the 'problem' of which animes to add to the specific section will solve itself because the Moderators wouldn't be here if they didn't like anime, let alone keep up with the most current releases.

I must admit, that as of late I am having trouble finding good threads to post on. Mostly because, unlike what others might think, I do not have much time to be on this forum. Therefore if I have to search, and search and search for something to comment on, the inertia usually stops me and I find something on a NEWS feed to read instead.
Sometimes I'll be in the mood to, say, talk about Ranma 1/2, and I'll do a search for it.
But it would be a lot easier (and thus put me in the mood to posting) if I didn't have to look for a needle in a haystack when I want to find something solid to talk about. And being the nature of this site, anime is what I'm looking to talk about.
Most of the posts I see here are in the SPAM section...that only goes so far (fun at times...but how many times can one do rapid, IM-like fluff posts? Especially when even the Forum rules posted by Zanet requests more then that (for non-spam threads, but still, it's the concept that counts here).

--- Create an 'Anime Specific Discussion' in order to increase posting.

--- This has already shown some success in the RP forum, where I noticed some people go off topic already to discuss the anime, not RP.
--- The example at:

shows that it can be successful.
--- Even though this also can increase fluff posts, that will happen in any measure of increased traffic.
--- Easier navigation will also increase those who have a limited time to look for something to comment about. Otherwise the 'new' or 'today's' posts are usually swamped with spam posts, and/or uploads.
--- More posts = more traffic, which is believe was something the Admin here desired, especially via the email which put forward the Rapidshare Premium account award.

nice suggestion, but the need for new moderators will increase due to the increased sections right? and I guess zanet and AoN will have a headache sorting things out

I agree with Yuuji's suggestion! That suggestion will influence traffic and organization. Not only that, it will increase the morale of the forum members...

dont forget though that ZA is already assigning 1 or 2 new mods and he could always make a section mod.

Otherwise I like it. It reminds me of Nyoro Subs forum how it has a section for each anime project that they do

I did not know that ZA is attaining new mods.

I'll admit I am not expert, but my experience from Quarrel (being that I am friends with 2 of the moderators) is that past the initial setup, very little upkeep is required for such sections.

Being that:
1) The Mods themselves use them, so they are relatively up to date.
2) Most problems are handled through the 'report' button of normal members.

Although such reports might increase workload, they should be in conjunction with increased forum use - which has previously been set as a desired outcome.

Hmm It does sound like a good idea that would increase the ammount of discussion, before I didn't do anything like that as I didn't want to have loads of empty forums but now that the whole site is a lot more 'active' it could work well

I'll put a poll up sometime tommorow (Or if you can do that it would be great) , if the forum users are fine with it then I'll do it, if not we'll stay to the system we have right now.

At the moment I have quite a lot of free time (But i'm normally keeping myself busy with loads of small projects =P)

well all I do these days is upload and working on new AMVs, playing games, and designing things for the RPG...not much. So I could help out with this. Also this WOULD make it much more neat (as I always like neatness). We'll have only one thread for discussing an anime instead of people making like dozens of threads over 'Shippuuden', 'Death Note', 'CG' and other famous anime...

It seems Hyaweh has gotten the poll up and running (10 to 0 for, so far) already.

I basically was busy this weekend and now when I got back it seems the concept has already developed legs of its own.

If there are any other questions (or requests) please feel free to ask them.
Though I am going to try to answer some of the smaller ones over on the poll thread.

It's great that you've come up with this idea and everything, but if you'd look on the Anime Discussion forum for a bit, there are sometimes threads for shows and sometimes not... There already is a sub section for soemthing like this ( I THINK, too lazy to check ) but people seem to dislike posting there.

Although it'd be a great addition, I don't think this forum is nearly active enough to reach the point in which we'd need more division like this :?

Hmmm, it's true that the anime discussion section is a bit messy, and there are threads that repeat themselves etc. But i dunno if there are enough people for this sorta biiiig thing, but other than that, i think it's a good idea. And as someone said.. for now if we add it, i don't think that there should be a section for THAT many animes, just the main ones that are being posted in for now, when there are more people etc. and more discussions, it should always be easy to just add more sub-sections..
