Now I'm curious, how did you swing that? There are times when I need something new, or the bills get to high...to have a job that I can go (mostly) when I want to, sounds great. |

'Course, I mean 'network' in terms of social relationships and 'who you know', nothing that deals with CAT45 (586) standard cables and routers. To keep in mind: Even though social networking has decreased slightly in the 21st century, it is still incredibly powerful in finding (and keeping) decent employment. And the closer you get to making 6 figures ($100,000+) the more important social networking is (in finding the job, negotiating the job, etc) |

Just a funny piece of advice from someone twice your age then: Sure there are things you haven't experienced, or haven't learned yet, which will be important when you 'grow up'. But the core of who you are now, will most likely remain the same for the rest of your life. And it's pretty amazing of things you've learned now, are actually applicable (though adapted) when your 20,30,40,50, etc. You have employment through social networking....and like I said previously, you can make a good career move the same way (you have a friend who's company is willing to pay you $11,000 more, plus a bonus, for the same work you are doing now. Plus it's closer to your home and your friend gets to work with you). It sure beats interviews and job hunting. ----------------------- Some of the real changes in your core personality happens when the really depressing things hit. Death. Your own mortality. When parts of your body no longer function as well as they used to, which steals your freedom. Betrayals. Or when the ideals you have now, just cannot survive the 'real world' because our societies haven't evolved yet. And in the end, you have to make one compromise too many, and you find yourself not caring anymore. Sound like any 'adults' you know? |

Yea, I can't complain at my job. Income is good for my area, but I have to commute ~110 miles a day roundtrip for it. Live in a cheap area, work in an expensive area, best way to go if you can deal with commuting hehe. Alas, for all my income I'm still one broke mo-fo thanks to supporting my mom and girlfriend. -sigh-

110 miles? Especially at today's gas prices....let alone that's a huge Opportunity Cost. (Since many people here are 16 or less, I mean he's trading time and effort (beyond work) for his paycheck: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]) And although I'm not comfortable enough to go into details about my personal life: About having one's funds go into family (and worse, family that eventually stabs you in the back and/or leaves with the funds) - yeah, I've been there. Hell, I'm still in the hole they created for me. In a nutshell I had to resort to downloading anime, instead of being able to wait and buy it, was because of the lack-of-funds situation they put me in. Side benefit: I now get to watch what is current over in Japan. Let alone I get it before it's even licensed. Quote:
Especially for high-level IT, that's how I heard it was still being done (my brother, before the war, was IT in Manhattan. Most of his job-jumping was purely because of networking. His last job-jump was because of this li'l of thing happening over in the middle east. Or as my brother likes to call it: Playing in the Sand. He was reserves, but basically been activated as he was a regular. Anyway, he's just about to complete his 5th tour, and apparently he'll be making Major by September. Won't believe it til he has the oak leaves...but still....not the way he planned his life to go. He had his 'Iraqi Divorce' just 8 months ago, so he's single again.) But your senior WAN went AWOL, and then jail eh?.....everyone else, take this lesson to heart: Strange s*** like this DOES happen in the real world. And you thought things became sane after high school. |
