Default Large Hadron Collider - Success!

Well I just got like 3 news feeds in a row about the LHC on news.com. It seems that they have completed it and is now working. They also stated that it's the biggest and most complicated scientific project in history. It actually recreates the universes' creation, the 'Big Bang'. You can get some news on the following:
Code:
http://www.news.com.au/technology/story/0,25642,24328608-5014239,00.html
Code:
http://www.news.com.au/story/0,,24324047-2,00.html
And on the following link some info about the LHC:
Code:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Large_Hadron_Collider
I'm personally going to bow down to the scientists who made this possible :P Even though the LHC has a very, very bad side if theres an accident. The end of the world 0.0 It could create tiny black holes that could suck up the Earth o.o People already started partying and stuff cuz of it :P Also if ur gonna discuss the creation of the universe please don't get relegion into it cuz it just makes trouble. So I hope i made ur day :P and comment away

well I didnt feel like checking out the links, but I assume this is the particle accelerator that was built on the french and swiss boarder? If I remember from my Chemistry fieldtrip to Fermilab to see their particle accelerator, It is now the largest accelerator with a radius of 5 or more miles I think.

I think thats accurate, I remeber watching a documentary on the building of SOME sort of accelerator in science class. I believe the one I saw involved the french, but i'm not too sure about anything else. Well, this is great news and all, but the possible risks kinda outweight the potential benefits ;/

I just checked the wiki page and I was dead on pretty close with the radius too. cuz the circumference was like 17 miles, but yeah its pretty cool how advanced science is getting.

It's also scary how advanced science is getting. Every good creation made through science has a bad defect in some way. Like the creation of the atomic bomb. However, it is definitely one step closer to furthering the human race.

Of course....I personally don't care if we all get sucked into black hole. At least it means that we'll be over with poverty and all those other world issues....yes...imma serious...

Definitely a good alternative to blowing the whole planet to hell with a nuclear war.

People who say 'aah it's going to explode' or 'aah black hole' are idiots (No offense, but I've been researching this for ages) , it's VERY unlikely (near impossible) that it would happen, also your comment is stupid ._. , just because you're poor doesn't mean you aren't happy. The universe is never going to be perfect and I doubt anyone wants to die.

I used to live (as I no longer live in France) , around 1 hour drive away from there and I've been following the project for quite a long time, my cousin used to work over there trying to set up their PC network ^^

Anyways it's still going to take years before anything comes out of it. If you get sometime, check out "the GRID" , 15 Petabytes per year =D

Of course we'll keep advancing, that's normal

Well.... if the world gets destroyed The Scientists wouldn't be able to c how it works anyways so there's really no point of this..

Well, the world wouldn't explode at once. It'd take some time obviously.

Yes it was a good thing that the experiment resulted in success. Have they found that "god" atom or molecule yet? Or are they still analyzing the results?
