Default History Discussion.

Just an overall topic to discuss your favorite events in history whether past or present. You can discuss the Crusades, the French Revolution, or even the Civil War.

So, what event in history do you feel shaped the way of the world today?

I used to research more about 470s-1800s, so it's all about the end of Rome up to the end of Roman Holy Empire in Europe (just the surface, not specifically any country), about Asia I knew more about my own country and China. Abou Japan, just from 1200s to 1960s.....

And, what kind of civil war (we have ton of civil wars)? USA, Croatia, India, China.......

About your question, our world was shaped by various events in history. They filled in, covered, continued each other. But yeah, the French Revolution gave alot of effect to our modern day. But I would like to talk about the Crusade and China, lol.

For the modeling of the world today, I believe the most accurate period of "modling" would probally be before + after the vietnam war.

Post war, the world made many many changes

It's just Civil Wars in general. Any remarkable event in history worthy of discussion can be discussed. We could talk about the Mongolian Horde and how they influenced modern day Asia?

Well, that's just the period of time, not really something change history. If it could be something change the world, we should wait until afghanistan, and the whole middle east live in peace without their best friend "American" play around with the m4a.

Renji: that's a good topic, go first if you have any opinion

Well, personally. I see the Mongolian Horde as one of the first true organized forces. Genghis Khan gathered all of the clans of the plains and united them. If he hadn't taken ill and his son taken over the campaign, I believe most of Eurasia would be controlled by them.

Agreements?

I used to hope that in the past, the Mongolian after finished the Turk, gone wild and massacre all Europe.... nah nah nah, sorry but at that time it sounded cool, and I know that they can if they want.

I dont think Genghis Khan is the first one who united all other clan, we have kinda more of the emperors who did that in the past . But yeah, he is the only one who can go that far, greater than Alexander in my opinion.

my historical information are shallow :\...though, i always had interest in medieval Europe and Renaissance period...i just like that period

as for your question...i think the WW1-2 and the fall of the soviet Union were the most impacting events that turned the modern world into its present shape

However the difference between Alexander and Genghis is that Genghis had nothing to worry about strengthening. His people were people of the plains. Similar to the Plains Indians of the United States. They took everything with them wherever they traveled. Alexander on the other hand forgot to strengthen his hold on his lands, and further train his army.

I personally liked studying the Greeks and Romans. They made such a huge impact on the world today it isn't even funny. They gave us Democracy, military tactics, and so much more.
