They had something more of a parliamentary democracy. The council ruled, and the Caesar served as a head who could take power during a crisis.

That was for the Romans, For the Greek's the city-state of Athens was a Direct Democracy. So in essence you could say that the United States has a fusion of the two plus a little here and there mixed in. lol

Well Athens relied on Sparta for military affairs, and Athens used them. They claimed them to be uncivilized.

Thats partially true, because there was no close affiliation of Greek city-states until Alexander the Great Unified Greece and went on to conquer all around the Mediterranean.

Who told you that Athen relied on Sparta's military. These two had never reach that close to rely on each other. Even when persia conquer Greece or after that , the Corithian war, not a bit close. And there is no such a thing call democracy in that land, those are just the basic theory for our modern policy. But in reality, their rule are the rule for uperclass, not for slave and labor.

After Philip, Alexander I didnt bother conquering Sparta, can't say that Greece was unified. If there was someone who unified all the land of Greece, that was Rome.

Alright, I knew I was messing something up. I was right in saying that The Athenians and Spartans were never related. I did forget though that Alexander failed to unite Greece but he spread throughout the Mediterranean.

Actually all of Greece was unified against Troy before Rome ever came into being.

Indeed, all because of Helen. However, we have deterred from our original subject.

How about a new one?

The French Revolution or WWI?

Jumping back to an older topic first :

The Mongolians literally DID conquer ( and unite ) the largest amount of land in history. More so that Alexander the great. Although they were more of a martialist group of people, their leadership ( and obedience ) has yet to be surpassed in time. However, their golden age is short lived, lasting only 2 generations. Too bad

I think that the French Revolution may be too broad a subject at this level of conversation, I'd suggest that we actually find a point to start from. Talking about the bad rueling of leaders and the oppression of peasents is boring, so why don't we start AFTER the feudal era?
