Well.. you can't really make a blanket statement like that, because going from 1gb to 2gb is not always going to translate to a matching incremental increase in performance. It depends on the OS and what the box is being used for. For a Vista gaming or desktop publishing box, then it would be a very good idea. For a Windows XP box that just surfs the net and runs Office apps, it's totally unnecessary.

Or you can do like my moron dad did. (JK, my dad's great) upgrade to 4 gigs to make the computer super fast and in the instantaneous purchase of 3 gigs of new ram forget that the family desktop computer is operating on Windows XP 32 bit OS.

A DER! EPIC FAILURE!!!!!!

did I say 1,024 MB?! Nah that's only the amount used, about 50% of the total (2,99 MB RAM)

Problem is that I'm using 32 bit OS when I have 64 bit processor
I know I should upgrade to 64 bit OS soon ...

remember my P4 1,7GHz intel PC..well i bought a new machine...the cheapest setup i could find lol

2.01GHz AMD Sempron(tm) possessor 64Bit

the performance was actually better than what i expected
