Most bluray devices have h264, but if you want to ask about DVD player.....

The way movie and game work are different. Since ps3 dont like copy game, nobody want to mod it cuz your ps3 will be banned. Anw, I remember Paradox have made an ISO dumper for this problem ^^, you need an OS on your ps3 and that tiny file of them. (who is paradox...google).

So does my PS2 and PS3...

Unless you guys are talking about something else.
the way convertxtoDVD work is that it convert the file to DVD format. Still took time and actually we dont like 2nd convert.

If you want to convert to DVD format with more high quality, then use FAVC, cuz ctd sometime gave some artifact in fast action. The Field of FAVC work better.

@Staelens: I think beefjerky just give you a good solution, you can choose between CTD or FAVC. They will make a complete DVD for you, not a half bred disc ^^. But you can try my solution if you just want to put any file to your disc in the fast way.

If you interested in FAVC, this is a good guide for FAVC, thank anime-planet ^^

Wow that FAVC looks pretty good, with ConvertXtoDVD, you do experience a minor quality loss even if it's a .mkv file or not.

I'll give it a look!

*Frowns*
I completely hate to think of how much you lost that way.

Then again, I'm envious that you even get to play with such cool toys. With college costs I can barely get a single spindle of dual layer DVDs, and I loathe to touch them in fear of turning one into a coaster. But a Blu Ray Coaster? *shivers*

Otherwise, I too have yet to find any dvd player that can play .mkvs off the bat.
dvtq still has the best alternative for that.

The only thing I have discovered is that most DVD players usually have a code that will turn them 'region free'. I was shocked to find out my first DVD player (that I ever owned) had a completely weird code and sequence that will turn it region free. And I doubted it. But I tried, and viola, it worked.

Too bad I discovered it 18 months too late. Even though I owned the DVD player for 3+ years, I didn't know it could do that. So I never bought any DVDs while I was over in the Japan, because I could not play them. Now I regret that.

but if you really want to have a player like that, you should find some player (linksys kiss 1600,Lim 200i..., etc) which support h264 format. (sorry, but I dont have any dvd player since I built my own HTPC)

Now, the problem is how to convert MKV to another format without converting? you dont want to lessen your video quality, dont you? (I hate to convert too though it is my job hehehe):
+MKV is just a box, it would be easier to just pick out what are inside.
+use any mkv extractor to take out video file, audio file, sub file, chappter file.
+need another tool for muxing to transfer all those file to mp4 box.
+that's all, cuz all the player that support h264 also support MP4 format.
+No need to waste your time to convert or use any converter, those are just for amateur. Pro know what to do ^^.
+any question, just ask on.... doom9
Build a HTPC may bring you more option for the same price.
can you say what programes i need to do this trick and could you explain it a bit different i can't understand it well (i am from belgium).
the FAVC idea is a good 1 if i can't understand yours i will use this.

thanks

nah nah nah, sorry, but you should just use FAVC. My way look simple but not really simple for people who dont know muc about video. Sorry for suggesting that ^^.

The reason I dont want to go farther about this mkv-mp4 is because lot and lot of encoder these days choose vfr rather than cfr for their video. And when you face VFR, just dont do anything, whatever converter won't work properly with them anyway.

Yeah you need too, if you want an easier and faster way of doing it without all the complications, you should give ConvertXtoDVD a shot.

All you do is open it up, choose the videos you want to convert and burn, click convert, when it's done, insert your DVD and it burns.

I still need to give FAVC a shot and see how the quality is for that but it does seem like a decent amount of work by looking at the tutorial.

actually, the guide explain more about each option, not really too many work. I like to do these things because it 'll teach you more about vid world, as well as more option for chosing.

Quality, really sorry since I dont ever use these things anymore so I can't know. If you can plz try a small test just with iso then let me know ^^.
