Overall pretty good game. Pretty much the same as last year. They did change controller layout...for the better. Finally I can use sprint and the hit-stick or Highlight-stick at the same time due to a smart move of sprint from X to R2 (in the PS3 version). Graphics are killer.
Coolest addition is the Madden IQ system which automatically adjusts the difficulty level on four aspects of gameplay: Pass Defense, Rush Defense, Rushing, and Passing. By having various difficulties it makes games more fun. For example I am really good at finding open receivers and rush defense so those are both set automatically to All-Pro Difficulty, My Pass Defense and Rushing are lacking so they got set to Rookie and Pro respectively. Of course you can just set it for a straight difficulty level or a custom level. This has to be my favorite addition. Another addition that I liked is the ability to play as an actual real life rookie in the NFL during Superstar mode. So my Rating (All out of 10) Gameplay: 8.5 they streamlined it a bit but it can still be confusing for novice players. Graphics:8 You really need a HDTV to really appreciate them, unfortunately the TV I usually play on is SD but on my family's Plasma, It looks great. Value: 5 Its a usual sports title, by next year you have to get the new one and on the PS3 and 360 its a steep $60 USD. Madden on the PS2 is still $39.99 USD. Online: 9 It offers a good deal of online modes that you can play with friends and random people you have never even met. Overall: 8.5 Usual performance from a madden title.
