Yeah, I just started playing it, it's not bad, I chose the balanced warrior.
Although the battle system can get a bit boring.

well the battle system aint as good as DMC (I dont think any battle system is :P) but i found it ok.

If I should point out some great RPGs (on PC) there's:
1. Baldur's Gate I & II (II is my favourite of all)
2. Planescape Torment
3. Fallout 1 & 2 (a post nuclear RPG)
4. Temple of Elemental Evil
5. Deus Ex (a cyberpunk RPG/FPS)
There are of course lots of others, but they have the greatest story and gameplay of all and also 'open' world (maybe except Deus Ex).
About the mentioned games - I have nothing really to add, 'cause they are all from the top shelf ;]
Oh, there's one thing - Diablo isn't a genuine RPG, it's more an Acton RPG. And as to 'open worldness' the most open Action RPG is Sacred.

There is no official release date yet. I did a LOT os research on this and haven't found one good and believable date. Some even said it was going to get released in 2007 (in a forum post in 2006) -_-'...

I do not believe Diablo 3 will come out until 2010 or later. Lets not forget that Starcraft 2 was announced before Diablo 3, as well as The new Warcraft which I think is out. But it would be nice to see D3 out sooner, since there is nothing left to do on Diablo 2. Hopefully D3 will be on the same battle.net server, despite the lag, then I wouldn`t have to disband my clan or lose half its members. School has already taken away so many. =_=
