The game is being developed by [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] for the Sony [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] console. Development
A DVD containing a 17-minute trailer for the game was included with issue 1007 of [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
Persona 4's gameplay and style stays similar to Persona 3's. The game appears to run on the same engine as its predecessor. Features such as Community (Social Link in foreign localization), One More and All-out Attack from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] return. Shoji Meguro remains as the music director for the game. Although Persona 3 had a more modern style and design, Persona 4 will feature a more retro one. Glasses play an important role in the game, but whether they allow the wearer to summon their persona, allow them to see shadows, or something else entirely is unknown.
Story
In the rural town Yasoinaba, there have been mysterious murders occurring whenever there was fog after heavy rain. There were also rumors about a channel on television airing only at midnight called Mayonaka TV, during which it is said that you can see your "other half" when staring at the TV screen. After hearing about a recent unsolved murder which occurred during the fog, the main characters, yourself, Chie, and Yousuke discuss how each of you had attempted to watch the mysterious TV channel and witnessed the murder victim. You later realize that during midnight when the channel is on, your body can phase into your television set as a gateway to enter another world infested with shadows. After discovering this, you all decide to explore. When first completely entering the world, dazed and confused, you meet Kuma. Mayonaka TV and the town murders seem to have a connection. The murder victims may be merely victims of Mayonaka TV. Everyone decides that they will together try to solve the mysterious murders by exploring the hidden world of Mayonaka TV.

I look forward to this game and I hope they try improve some aspects of the game especially the story since IMO Persona 3's story wasn't up to snuff compared to EP.

With Disgaea, Final Fantasy, and Dragon Quest all moving to new platforms for their upcoming releases, at least one Japanese role-playing game seems content in its current home.
Atlus announced a North American release for the next installment of the Persona series this weekend, and it's headed for the PlayStation 2. Set for launch on the PlayStation 2 December 9, Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 will sell for $39.99 and come packaged with a soundtrack CD of music cuts from the game.
As with previous Persona titles, the fourth installment of the series eschews the traditional fantasy setting of the Japanese RPGs in favor of a more modern setting. The game follows a group of supernatural investigators attempting to solve a series of murders in rural Japan.
