you dont need to play 1st,2nd inorder to play 3rd, they are all different story line except for persona stuff. Persona 3 was realease in Japan 2 years ago, and the new one persona 3 FES is just the 3rd + new chapter. This RPG game is the best so far i can see in time manage RPG style. that's why some amateur and even hardcore wont enjoy it like after 2-3 hours.

the fighting system is quite different, still classic but you are you, and you cant control the other, have to trust in other and order them what kind of action they have to do. I guess Atlus came up with this idea because Square and Namco took dynamic bar( grandia), and realtime.

@baby frog: any good rpg came from Jap, they are all jap style. I didnt see any good rpg from other country, or should i say sux. Well, RPG is only good when you can enjoy it, i meant the story. beside that there is no random fighting in Persona.

@beefjerky: "when" doesnt matter, because it will take 1 or more years for 4th to be release in the US. did you done the first episode ^^

First, i called this type is manage time RPG is not quite right, just it mixed beetween fighting RPG and classic life RPG.Train alot as you can to strenthen your ability, but manage the time to do community stuff to level your social link in order to level your persona. Beside that, spend time carefully to max charm, courage, academic in order to do quest and achieve new social link ^^.

the best thing about the game is that you can shape the main character as you like so it's somehow a reflection of your own personality :P

the battle system is unique too and need tactics. the enemies would give you a hard time if you do not concentrate on your their weaknesses, so no you can't just keep pressing X to overcome your enemy

well, some of my friend say so. But in my opinion, anime style work good on ps2.

till now i didnt see any good game in PS3 except for mgs4 and FF13 are comming.

Dunno if this is a repeat but Persona 3 FES is like a persona 3 version 1.2, its the first game with some extras deffinetly worth the buy. I also suggest the Disgaea, Suikoden, and Kingdom Hearts Series. Since we're talking about RPGS I'll advertise my RPG club, join if you want to discuss/play RPGS. The link is in my sig.
