Zone-Anime Animaniac - Level 5

RTS (real time strategy), are my absolutely favorite.
Though, over time, I started not to enjoy micromanaging as much. Probably because using a mouse started to hurt my wrist, and I had to move to a scroll pad (Where the unit doesn't move, and the ball is placed on the top of the unit so that your thumb or fingers can movie it). Before my thumb controlled one broke, I could still RTS well enough. But they don't make that model anymore. This finger-controlled on just isn't as precise, so micro-ing just isn't as fun anymore. Ergo, I only play against the computers. Starcraft is my all time favorite (tempted to buy SC2 at full price when it comes out). Though more recently I relax with Battle for Middle Earth and Warhammer 40K, Dawn of War (and expansions) Also, before it became completely repetative, I played Diablo I + II. While my brother is serving out his 5th tour overseas, he spent some of his bonus and sent me an Xbox 360 plus Halo 3. Unfortunately, I have not grown up with thumb-sticks, but with Joysticks (full hand, not just thumbs). And quite frankly I'm not adept enough with them to handle people over Xbox live. Against the computer I'm fine, so I've played out the campaign three times. But online, the learning curve was too high - simply put, I wasn't having fun. And if I'm not having fun, **** it. I have a real job, and real life to get back to. Perhaps when controllers become more Wii-like, I can try again. Otherwise, all I could do was keep quiting games on BTB (Big Team Battles) until Covenant vehicles were given. Then I hop on a Ghost. Speed, maneuverability and enough firepower. I can get to the action quickly (thus avoiding boredom), and when things are NOT good, I can run like hell (love the boost). It's not a game-winner, but at least my KDR is 4:1 usually. I also used to like Banshees, but those things (at higher levels) are usually Splasered (Spartan Laser) out of the sky really damn fast. Again, a sniping trick that I have no time to train for (i.e. getting used to using my thumbs for aiming and moving so precisely using those loose thumbsticks). I actually had a friend Forge me a firing range. I used it for weeks, gained some improvement, but I found myself training more then gaming. 'Twasn't worth it. |
