Zone Anime forum - Anime , Manga and GFX online community

The history of Zone-Anime, well if you are expecting something very plain, you are wrong :P , Zone-Anime has had a huge share of problems but we've always gotten through. Well this is uber long. Please note I have no notion of time, I just remember things happened and I've probably missed parts out ^^'

Why Zone-Anime was made ? Cos I couldn't find a decent site, where everything was nicely organised, had no popups and no crappy forced voting, I was talking to a friend on anime and for some reason I said "I could do better >_>" and so I tried . One thing you'll never see on Zone-Anime is seeing us say "We are the number one anime source !! ", because I believe that that's impossible, there is no number one and those who do say there sites are the best are stupid >_>, it's all a matter of opinion after all

Well I started my first anime site, under the name "Anime-Zone" hosted on a new free hoster called "Yurx" we managed to get 1000 members in the first month of our creation (Yes I know, its not a original name :P) . We were a fairly small site, no staff and me slaving away :P , I had no HTML knowledge and we had a fairly lousy template with an unbridged phpbb forum... It all looks pathetic to say the truth.. xD

Anyways, it was in September - October that someone hacked us and completely destroyed the site I'd spent 2 months making , well I was fairly pissed off, no hacker will make me close down my site !! I'd gained quite a lot more knowledge on making sites and so I decided to remake "Anime-Zone", I also thought we should get a domain , Anime-Zone wasn't available :\ but Zone-Anime was, it sounded kinda cool, plus ZA looks better than AZ :P , so out of impulse I registered the domain Zone-Anime.com at midnight and spent 12 hours reconstructing Zone-Anime the next day in the weekend . Well Zone-Anime had a black theme at that time, I was still fairly new to the system, but I changed a lot of Zone-Anime and also started using the SMF forum, yup this is when this forum was born

Well what surprised me the most was that SO many people were coming when I hadn't even finished everything on the site . If I remember correctly Final Flash was one of the 1st on our forums and that was followed by Neo (one of our admins now )

So for a lot of time I get improving, advertising, maintaining ZA and then the first of ZA's uploaderss came, Neo first, then Steino who found us from projectw , (he later started his own site as he had SO many uploads ), AnimeUpload copied all his uploads though >_> and after 2 weeks of our new "Zone-Anime opening" , someone comes on the forum and says , can I upload manga and post the links here... So I opened a manga section, of course that person was Mimi, who is our manga admin

So we slowly kept improving, I got a lot of help and advice from other admins, like Pat , admin of CrashAnime, also AoN helped me out a lot (and of course constantly criticizing my lack of skill xD, I'm fairly easy going ^^ )
Well I started to get bored, and when I was bored I used to improve something I wanted to start ddl ! So I put a huge donation drive on ! We got 20-30 dollars and I was going to use an overseller, when we finally had the money... after a couple of months (Thanks to google :P) , I didn't get it >_> , simply because I'd heard bad things about people getting their account disabled when putting DDL on the hoster. I had considered getting a dedicated server, but it was too pricey. Zone-Anime's hoster changed server THREE TIMES and had loads of downtime and I got fed up (We constantly lost work we'd done on the site) and I decided to move, it was then I heard the admin of Da Anime owned a hosting company , so I contacted him and he gave me a deal I couldn't really refuse, for 30 dollars a month, we'll get a FTP server with 50GB of space and he'll host us. So I accepted and our "DDL" started

Now some time here Dvtq came in and started uploading LOADS (he had his own site I think) , but as he was doing so much I decided to give him a good position in ZA

I also started a streaming site, using Vidiac.com as a hoster after HOURS of research... only to find that multiple sites copied me days after me launching my streaming site. (Not going to name them.. but i wasn't very happy )

Well the FTP didn't last for long (was online for 1-2 months and I found loads of ppl leaching off us ) , Sony (yes SONY) confiscated our FTP Server and we couldn't get a replacement. Then, we had National Anime hack us >_> , we moved just before the server got null routed and da anime was down for ages >_>, then they hacked the server we were on.. we moved again... (I started NationalAnimearehackers.blogspot.com, while waiting for our server to come back up)

In May I think, Vidiac.com, the people hosting our streaming site deleted EVERY ANIME episode on our server . I talked to a couple of admins who had vidiac.com streaming sites and decided that making an alliance would be the best way. AniTube.net was born Also somewhere on the line the Anime OST section was born.. the same way as the Manga section and I made Servant (Who was fairly new to ZA at the time) and JWoods admins of that section)

Then finally when we were on a decent server, we had DNS problems and half the people who knew us, thought we no longer existed because they got a "Error not found" problem... So guess what we moved server AGAIN ! Then we got null routed. Well then we were down for 1 month.. ROFL and I couldn't restore Zone Anime as I was in India having loads of fun :P, but I had a very lousy internet.

Well then we changed server.. to the one we're on right now xD , DDOS protection, we're paying a lot and this site is monitored 24 hours a day , we're still getting DDOS but I doubt most of you even know that. I've missed small gaps of history, including AoN's fanfic section and him constantly i bugging me to write fanfics xD , or the GFX section launched by Hoa and he only wrote 1 tutorial then dissappeared xD, well hardly anyone sees them anyways )


Hmm, well thanks for reading the history of this site, as you can see this site was not made over night and didn't become popular fast and always had loads of problems xD and has made me broke , but I've gained many friends on the NET and I don't regret it a bit ;p

Part 2 :
Ok next part of ZA's history D:

Ok, so Zone Anime has been getting DDOS attacks a lot lately, this has strained the server a lot and our fees have gone up a load. As a result I've been forced to put popups on Zone Anime, AniTube had to be moved to a seperate server and the overall server costs are about 5-6 times what they were previously Well that's pritty much it.. ZA's moved twice in the last month... just when I thought we could stay on 1 server

Part 3 :

Well, Popups were fairly useless, as many of them sent virus's to the users and as they were so unpopular, we decided to remove them. After a bit of research we changed advertisers and had some video adverts to raise some funs quickly >>

MangaConnection was created in the winter of 2007, to revive our dead read manga online section . The site started with 50 unlicensed manga and we hope to add more with time

Due to DDOS attacks on AniTube it went down for a whole week, we bought a new server and moved ZA & AniTube to that server. [This was paid for by burninghand, as we didn't have any cash -_-]

Well.. now we're here, relying on donations and advertisments to stay alive

Yh, we got effected by that badly, but I always look at the good side , well AniTube will soon be at what I invisioned it to be, loaaaads of anime, I'm hoping to have about 200+ complete anime within 1-2 months
