RPGs that everyone should have played :D

Ok well here's a list of RPGs that are 'open' , by that I mean the RPG doesn't force you to go and visit certain towns in a certain order, the world is open to you and you can do what you like. I've not included console / FF games in this list. Some of them aren't so open, but they are good anyway xD.

• Gothic series, Gothic 1, 2, 3 (I'd say Gothic 2 was the best.. Gothic 3 was fairly buggy)

• Fable (I loved this game.. but it's damn short (Finished it in 2 days.. and I'd done 3/4 of the side quests etc. )

well Gothic 1 is fairly old now, but even though the graphics aren't great it's still one of my favorite RPGs, though it's a very realistic RPG, at the start you aren't a warrior so a lot of people will be able to pawn you quickly and you will suck at battle =P

KOTOR was one of the few RPG's I ever picked up for my Xbox.

I wasn't disappointed.
I was actually surprised that they got the SW universe down better then those other three 'new' movies. (This is coming from a guy who actually _did_ see the original Star Wars in the movie theatre. In its first run, before it was even called Episode IV)

Glad to see that others of you are still fans of the original (1997 and 2000, so these are a bit 'old' now). Though I wouldn't call them 'open', past the movement, because you had to do the vast majority of quests in order. Still had a feeling of 'open' though.

As for D3, I do not know what to think. 1 and 2 sapped so much of my life away, I want to increase my XP in real world academics, not in increasing Bone Spear and Skeleton Mastery.

I almost hope there will be no Nek class, therefore my temptation will be less.

Well that's true, but I don't see that as a major problem to say the truth. Yep KOTOR isn't very 'open' that's why I said some of the RPGs aren't open xD as I realised that some good RPGs are just like that.. =\

That said, Star wars KOTOR was a great rpg, I mean the battle system was average ,but the storyline and audio were on another level. I've only started playing Jade Empire so I can't say for sure if it's good but from what I've played so far I'd say it is, the system resembles the KOTOR system that isn't a huge surprise as it was made by the same people.

I agree with Zanet on Knights of the Old Republic and Elder Scrolls, I haven't played the other ones. One that has to be added is Final Fantasy XI that was one huge MMORPG

Jade Empire, I've always wanted to try that game out. It averaged pretty high scores with all gaming mags and sites.

So is it actually any good? How does it play?
