Ps3 Chip??

i read on some forums that they discovered this .tiff exploit in which you will be able to play fake games on ps3. anyone know any furhter devolpements or chips?

o and i have this jap friend and he said his ps3 is chipped.

Bootlegged Games = No No on the PS3. Your wasting more money on it than just buying the game.

1 disc = $15+ (for single layer)
1 burner = $380+ (again, for a single layer burner)


You're better off buying your games, unless you really expect to be burning 7+ games for awhile. And seeing as more games are becoming Dual Layer Blu Ray, $27+ for disc, 780+ for burner... Just buy the games dude. Things get moe expensive to discourage piracy. But if you still wanna go for it, you can just run Linux. One of the releases of linux had the 2.1 Sony Firmware duplicated no chip involved... but they're at like 2.3 now

If your "jap friend" already has it chipped just ask for his supplier, it'll be easier than doing a wild goose chase online.

ye good point. ill probably just install linux. so can u still do that stuff with the ps3 on 2.3 that you could do with 2.1. and where can i find the download link for linux that you suggest?

Iono... this was a long time ago, and you should know what you're getting into. Linux is an open source operating system so you have to program a lot of that stuff on your own. Just google for some PS3 hacking ideas. That linux probably got shut down since all I've heard from the Linux community on the PS3 lately is Yellow Dog(? of was it fox... but w.e.) using it for intensive programs. Just ask ur friend, you'll still have to burn crap and waste all that money.

hmmmm good point i heard of installing linux on ps3 before and alrewady told someone to. so i guess ill just wait to see what they think of it.

Just fyi the PS3 hasn't been hacked yet and to top it off people claim that even trying to hack it using linux as a secondary operating system hasn't worked so I'm starting to think that, unlike the 360 where a 2 year old could hack it , the PS3 is pretty unhackable.

Well, assuming that the PS3 IS hackable ( chip-wise ), things wouldn't exactly get too expensive, you can easily cut down on many costs.

For one thing, you DON'T need a burner ; in fact its a horrible idea to get one... in most cases anyways.

I don't know about you, but where I live I can easily buy a bootlegged game for around 5 dollars... more or less. It shouldn't be too hard to just buy bootlegged games at this price since 5$ and 60$ have huge differences...

That might be the case with 360 and Wii games, but u have to remember that ps3 uses Blu-ray discs which cost an ass load of money and they have to be burned on a blu-ray burner which alot of people don't have. So that will prolly raise the price of the games for someone who is bootlegging them.

Or they can do it like those lame cheap bootleggers down here. I saw some guy sell 6 Dual Layer DVDs with Pirates of the Carribean on it. Don't ask me how thye gonna watch that on Blu-Ray unless they reburn it themselves onto 1 blu ray or programmed it to switch the disk after a scene


People bootleg out of necessity, lack of availablility or cost, so high prices for the resources discourages bootlegging the product.

Believe it or not, I can easily purchase "blue ray" movies and some games from a lil corner store I know. Not too sure if they carry PS3 games or not, but I can confirm it the next time I'm there
