Some years ago, wonders like Super Mario 64 or The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time were like dreams of the distant future... most of the games (excepting some special cases like Star Fox for the SNES) were designed in 2D with sprites and that stuff... but because of the restrictions, the games were creative!
Now, 3D has taken over the industry, and gamers only care about number of polygons, textures, etc... were is that creativity? While it seems that creativity is returning to videogames (look at the Wii, DS)... I still think that the old school games really took advantage of the hardware and software of that time... |
