you should try Death Note[THE BEST], Mushishi[Have to try, one of the best], Monster[bloody and amazing], Amaenaideyo (Katsu!!)[This not like all serious, just another ecchi anime with supernatural powers], Ergo Proxy[creepy], Hellsing[bloody].

wow, another ghost hunt fellow, too hard to find one ^^.
I couldnt find any anime that is good about ghost as Ghost hunt. Some ppl may say xxxholic but no, xxx have a charm of knowledge and art. If your "similiar"is not all about ghost then go with some advice above. I dont think you should try death note ^^, it's a joke, not even scary a bit.

try higurashi if you want creepy, the 1st one, not 2nd.
