Angel Sanctuary - Philosophy Behind Lucifael
First things first, this is to discuss the point of views of everyone on the story as it surrounds Lucifael/Lucifel/Lucifer. I am well aware that Setsuna/Alexiel, Sarah/Gabriel, and Rosiel are the main characters, but Lucifael plays a large role in the story as well as in religion itself. This is not meant to be a debate, simply a brainstorming of ideas on the outlooks of everything by everyone.
Now, as the story goes, Lucifael is the highest honored Angel of Tetragrammaton, "God", named Angel of Moon Star for his great deeds. After receiving this highest of honors, Tetragrammaton told Lucifael that his only purpose was to be the Prince of Darkness and rule over Hell and its many creatures.
After hearing Tetragrammaton words, Lucifael decided to anger him by taking his beloved daughter, Alexiel, by force in the Garden of Eden. This, ultimately, was a major conflict for him as he was in love with Alexiel. Lucifael had long since been since as the loveless Angel, the one Angel that could not be blinded or influenced by such emotions. Alexiel, on the other hand, loved all, even the Prince of Darkness. Lucifael quickly fell for the "woman with the same eyes as him".
In the Garden of Eden, instead of taking Alexiel by force, he showed her that, like her, he may appear emotionless, but he had a love within him that only she could know, by kissing her, and leaving her alone.
After his encounter with Alexiel, Lucifael rallied his army of Angels against the forces of Tetragrammaton. In the great battle, Barbelo, the guardian Lucifael and his younger brother, Michael, forced the Archangel of Fire, Michael, to take her to see if the Angel leading the rebellion against Tetragrammaton was really Lucifael. Barbelo has long since loved Lucifael as more than a son, which was the role she was meant to play for him, a mother. Seeing that her love was truly leading the rebellion, Barbelo was torn behind her love for Lucifael and her duties as a Guardian Angel of Michael. As Archangel Michael attacked his brother, Lucifael, with little remorse, Barbelo chose her love over her duty, and took the strike of Michael for Lucifael. Lucifael quickly ended the battle between Michael and himself, leaving his younger brother alive, but turning his attention to the fallen Barbelo. With his power as Angel of Moon Star, Lucifael spared the life of Barbelo, making her the first of 7 Satans whom would rule over Hell and its many creatures.
With his army quickly being crushed by the overnumbering forces of Tetragrammaton, Lucifael retreated with the remainder of his rebel army, fleeing to the depths of hell. There, the rebel army found hell to be uninhabitable. To spare his army the death that is certain by returning to Heaven, Lucifael joined himself with Hell, transforming it into a habitable land.
The rebel army were turned to demons, whom reproduced and populated 6 of the 7 layers of Hell. 6 more Angels became Satans, how they were chosen is unknown, but all 7 Satans were given tremendous power and reign over a section of Hell.
Lucifael, now known as Lucifer, returned to the Garden of Eden, to free the now trapped Alexiel, whom was imprisoned by Tetragrammaton, whom saw her as a threat, but could not simply do away with her. To punish Lucifer, Tetragrammaton sealed his soul into a 7-bladed sword, Nanatsusaya Mitamanatsurugi.
Alexiel found the Nanatsusaya Mitamanatsurugi and freed it from its resting place, wielding it by promising that she would free and restore its memories should it serve her well. The Nanatsusaya Mitamanatsurugi agreed to the arrangement, serving her as she wished, but grew to despise her for never giving him what she promised.
Now free, Alexiel escaped to Hell herself, where she encountered a slaughter of Evils, the lesser of Demons, whom were not Demon, nor Human, nor Angel, but something else. Evils populated the 7th layer of Hell, and were protected by the ruling families dragons. When Alexiel arrived in Hell, an army of Angels were slaughtering the Evils as if they were nothing. Alexiel saved the last descendant of the ruling family, a young girl named Yurai.
For some time, Alexiel stayed with Yurai, watching over her, teaching her, and caring for her. This only lasted until Alexiel returned to Heaven to face her brother, Rosiel, an Angel believed to be just as beautiful as his sister, Alexiel.
In their battle, Rosiel was sealed by Alexiel, but Alexiel was also captured and sealed by the Angels of Tetragrammaton.
As time passed, Alexiel was reincarnated, over and over again, the Nanatsusaya Mitamanatsurugi followed her, believing it was because he despised her, he even raped one of her reincarnations, then taking her life.
Alexiel was eventually reincarnated as Setsuna, elder brother to Sarah, incarnation of the Archangel of Water, Gabriel. At this point, Gabriel had been sealed by Lilah, whom had assumed the identity of Sevothtarte. Lilah saw Gabriel as a problem in her raise to power, so she removed Gabriel from her path, making her the Guardian Angel of Alexiel's reincarnation, Setsuna.
The Nanatsusaya Mitamanatsurugi struck a deal with a dying boy named Sakuya Kira, in exchange for fulfilling the boys dreams, the boys life would be spared and controlled by the Nanatsusaya Mitamanatsurugi. Sakuya Kira agreed, on one condition, the Nanatsusaya Mitamanatsurugi must make his father hate him, so that his father would never feel the pain of losing someone close to him as he would for his wife, who died from the same incident that Sakuya Kira was dying.
As Sakuya Kira, the Nanatsusaya Mitamanatsurugi became good friends with Setsuna, and became like an idol to him. Sarah, on the other hand, loved her brother, just as Lucifael loved Alexiel. Being highly Christian, Sarah tried to hide her feelings, and even to ignore them, but she just couldn't do so. Furthermore, Setsuna also loved her, but, unlike her, he hid his feelings and did what he believed was best for her.
Ultimately, Sarah's feelings came out as a result of the actions of Katan, a servant of Rosiel, as well as his love. Katan began a plan to free Rosiel, using a friend of Sarah's as the flesh for Rosiel. The plan resulted in the freeing of Rosiel into the Human world, where she manipulated the relationship between Sarah and Setsuna, trying to force them apart.
Sarah's mother found someone for Sarah to marry, a Christian that would treat her well, and it was only because of Rosiel's doings that Setsuna refused to return Sarah's feelings, causing Sarah to agree to the arranged marriage.
Only after the support of Sakuya Kira, the Nanatsusaya Mitamanatsurugi, did Setsuna go after Sarah, confessing his love for her before their mother, and Sarah forgiving Setsuna's stupidity before. Both Setsuna and Sarah ran away together as Sakuya Kira protected them.
As the story progresses, Sarah becomes trapped in Heaven, Setsuna's soul becomes trapped in the body of Alexiel, and the Satans team up with the Evils to lead an army of Demons in an attack on Heaven. By the time the war began, the Nanatsusaya Mitamanatsurugi had been captured by Rosiel, his body and memory restored by Rosiel in exchange for his serving Rosiel. Unknown to Rosiel, Lucifer only did as he wished to continue his own pursuit and goals.
Eventually, the "gang" ends up at Etamenanki, the hiding place of Tetragrammaton and his greatest of Angels as well of enemies, Adam Kadmon. It is in Etamenanki that Lucifer reveals how little control Rosiel has over him, as well as his true goals.
Tetragrammaton refused to stand for what had become of existence, and made his move to wipe it from existence. Through to work of Adam Kadmon, Alexiel, Gabriel, and Lucifer, Tetragrammaton was destroyed, and the world fell under the power of Adam Kadmon, a far more worthy "God".
Yeah, I was rather detailed about the beginning of the timeline and skipped over the whole of the actual story, but the story part was mostly worthless for this thread.
Anyways, the gist is, Lucifael betrayed Tetragrammaton who ended up being "evil". Now for the purpose of the thread.
Just because Lucifael rebelled against Tetragrammaton and become the ruler of Hell, is he really the bad guy? In my opinion, no. As I see it, Lucifael saw the overall intentions of Tetragrammaton, to destroy Heaven, Hell, and Earth when it was proven they could be balance themselves out. I think Lucifael rebelled against Tetragrammaton not because he was angry with Tetragrammaton, but because he wanted to stop Tetragrammaton before things left his ability to control.
Ultimately, I believe that Lucifael acted as he should have, but he did not have the support he required to succeed.
I can not speak about what happened in the actual bible, I haven't read it, but my opinion is that it is possible that the rebellion against God was for reasons unknown to us at this time, and that Lucifer may not be the villain that so many have come to see him as.
I'm not saying that it is so, just that it is possible! DO NOT MISTAKE ME!!! I have no religion that is practiced by another, the closest religion to mine is Wicken, but mine is far greater, Wicken is Earthly, mine is Existenal, far greater...anyways...going off topic...on the first post...
Now, as I said, this is not meant as a debate, only a discussion on how everyone interprets the actions of Lucifael in the story and how they view the possible interpretations of it. If you wish to include you views on the actual story from the bible, feel free, but this is not a religious recruitment thread, nor is it a debate. I WILL READ EVERY POST THOROUGHLY TO ENSURE NO DEBATING!!! If you want to debate it, make a new thread in the debate section!
